This Week, On Point
Greg’s Friday message + global voices from the field
Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of visiting archery leaders and athletes in Africa, Antalya, Frankfurt, Ireland, Lakeland (Florida), Madrid, Medellín, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, and the United Kingdom.
From small clubs to national federations, these face-to-face moments have been the highlight of this journey, listening, learning, and seeing firsthand what makes our global archery family so special.
The message is clear: no matter the country, we all want the same thing. A strong, unified sport built on trust, transparency, and shared purpose.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed me. With just a few weeks until the vote, I remain committed to leading with humility, clarity, and collaboration.
Together & On Point.
— Greg
I recently met with Jaime Nieto Sánchez, President of the Madrid Archery Federation, Spain’s largest regional federation. With 20+ years of experience, Jaime has led the Madrid Archery Development Center since 2009, producing elite athletes and national team coaches for Spain and the U.S.
His passion for youth development is unmistakable. Hearing him speak about kids who started at 11 or 12 and grew into world-class athletes shows the deep impact of his work.
This kind of grassroots dedication reflects the foundation I believe World Archery’s future can grow from. Jaime’s focus on long-term athlete development and sustainable local systems aligns with my vision to strengthen regional leadership to grow our sport.

During my visit to Paris, I had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Julien Mergret, President of the Fédération Française de Tir à l'Arc (FFTA), and his dedicated team. We had meaningful conversations about the future of our sport, athlete development, and the evolving role of national federations in creating sustainable growth at all levels.
I also had the opportunity to tour INSEP, France’s elite training facility for Olympic athletes. Watching French archers train at such a high-performance center underscored the value of long-term investment in infrastructure, coaching, and athlete care. It was a powerful reminder that excellence doesn’t happen by accident it’s built through intention, vision, and unity.
The FFTA is a prime example of how tradition and innovation can work together to prepare athletes for the world stage. Their leadership is helping shape the future of archery in Europe and beyond.

While in Frankfurt, I had the pleasure of visiting the German Shooting and Archery Federation (DSB) and meeting with Mr. Jorg Brokamp, Secretary General. Our conversation focused on Germany’s long-standing commitment to archery and the systems they've built to support athletes from development through elite competition.
DSB’s structured approach to coaching, athlete development, and organizational governance reflects a deep-rooted dedication to excellence. Their ability to balance tradition with progress offers valuable insight for how federations can remain resilient and relevant in a rapidly changing sports landscape.
I left encouraged by their professionalism, hospitality, and shared belief that the future of our sport lies in strong national leadership grounded in sustainable, long-term thinking.

Last Week's Updates
With six weeks left until the vote, I’ve found myself exactly where this journey started. Not just in meetings or strategy sessions, but at the archery centers, local clubs, and community gatherings that are the heartbeat of our sport.
This week, I’ve had the privilege of visiting several grassroots training hubs, places where coaches give their time, volunteers keep things running, and young athletes dream their way toward greatness. These aren’t just practice fields. They’re community connection points. The daily lifeblood of archery in every country.
And just as inspiring was the opportunity to stand alongside athletes at the finals event here in Madrid, where I helped present medals and celebrate the excellence, discipline, and spirit that define our sport at the highest level.
Whether it’s a small club tucked into a city park, a national training center, or the global stage of a championship final, each moment has reminded me of what truly sustains archery: people who care, who give, and who build day after day.
📸 You’ll see photos of these moments, handshakes with volunteers, conversations with local leaders, smiling faces at medal ceremonies, and the unmistakable energy of athletes putting in the work behind the scenes.
"I want to publicly express my full and absolute support for Greg Easton. I believe he will be the best president for World Archery, and I truly hope he wins the election and elevates archery to the level it deserves, just like his father, my dear friend Jim, once did."

Past Updates

It’s been great seeing so many athletes, coaches, and friends from around the world this week in Madrid. The energy, the talent, and the shared passion for archery have been inspiring. Walking through the historic streets, taking in the rich culture, and sharing meals over Madrid’s incredible cuisine has made this week even more meaningful.
These conversations continue to reinforce why I’m running: to listen, to learn, and to lead with purpose. I’ve now personally met with representatives from over 71 countries, and my team is quickly approaching 140. We’re looking forward to hearing from everyone. Every voice matters. Together, we stay on point.

"Jim Easton and I have had a good relationship for a long time. He has worked hard to develop archery around the world and has had good results. He is the person I personally respect the most. Now, his son Greg Easton is following in his father's footsteps and is working hard to develop archery. Greg Easton will work even harder than his father. I support him."

Greg sat down with members of the archery community at a café in Madrid to listen to their ideas and hopes for World Archery. After all, every meaningful conversation begins by pulling up a chair.

I’ve learned that World Archery has selected Lumi Global as the voting system provider for the upcoming Congress in Korea. This is a highly respected platform used by many international organizations, and I believe it reflects a strong step forward for World Archery in reinforcing transparency and good governance.
